Michiel Folkers

Michiel Folkers, also known as Gieler, is a Dutch contemporary street artist recognised for his distinctive collage-based works that blend urban culture, graffiti, and pop art influences. Beginning his creative journey through graffiti in the late 1990s, Michiel evolved towards street art, stencilling, and mixed-media techniques, eventually developing his signature style using reclaimed street posters, spray paint, and screen printing. Inspired by the textures and imperfections of city walls, particularly those of Amsterdam, his work transforms discarded urban materials into vibrant compositions featuring iconic figures, abstract forms, and layered visual narratives. Each piece captures the energy, chaos, and character of the streets while creating a unique connection between contemporary art and urban life.
